Notes in plain text
A short guide to writing with Markdown, from the first heading to the finished page.
This demo is a practical guide to the notebook. Every note begins as a Markdown file: plain text, a little structure, and whatever you want to say.
The first few lines
Place a file in src/content/posts/. Give it a descriptive filename, such as a-new-note.md. The filename becomes its address at /posts/a-new-note/.
Start with frontmatter:
---
title: "A new note"
description: "One sentence about what's inside."
pubDate: 2026-09-30
tags: [writing]
draft: false
---
Use draft: true while you’re working. Drafts stay out of the generated site, archive, tags, and RSS feed. To see your draft locally, temporarily set it to false, then switch it back before building.
Give the page a shape
The title above comes from frontmatter. Inside the note, start sections with a second-level heading:
## A thought worth keeping
A paragraph can contain **a little emphasis**, an *aside*,
or [a useful link](https://example.com).
> A sentence that deserves a little space.
Paragraphs, lists, quotations, and code blocks all have a place. Keep the structure simple and let the writing do the work.
| Element | Markdown |
|---|---|
| Section heading | ## A section |
| Emphasis | *A little emphasis* |
| List item | - One thing |
| Inline code | `a snippet` |
Keep it yours
The site title, introduction, author, and canonical URL live in src/site.config.ts. Colors, reading widths, and landscape tones live in src/styles/global.css.
When you’re ready to replace these examples, delete the demo Markdown files and add your own. Each demo is marked with demo: true; your real notes can omit that field.
Build the notebook with:
npm run check
npm run build
npm run preview
Your finished pages appear in dist/, ready for static hosting whenever you choose.
